Moneta Markets Account Types

Moneta Markets offers three account types: Direct STP, Prime ECN, and Ultra ECN. They differ by pricing model and minimum deposit, and all run on Pro Trader, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and AppTrader.

AccountMinimum depositMax leveragePricing
Direct STPFrom $50up to 1:1000Spread-based, no commission
Prime ECNFrom $50up to 1:1000Raw spread + commission
Ultra ECNFrom $20,000up to 1:500Premium, tightest pricing

Direct STP Account

The Direct STP account is the entry point, opening from $50 with spread-based pricing and no separate commission. It carries leverage up to 1:1000 and runs across all of the broker’s platforms.

Advantages

  • Low $50 entry
  • Spread-based, no commission to track
  • Pro Trader, MT4, MT5 and AppTrader

Disadvantages

  • Spreads are wider than the ECN accounts
  • 1:1000 leverage amplifies losses quickly

Prime ECN Account

The Prime ECN account moves to raw spreads sourced from liquidity providers, with a commission per lot. It suits active traders who feel the cost on every trade, and it also opens from $50 with leverage up to 1:1000.

Advantages

  • Raw spreads, tighter than Direct STP
  • Same low $50 entry
  • Pro Trader, MT4, MT5 and AppTrader

Disadvantages

  • A commission applies on top of the spread
  • 1:1000 leverage carries real risk

Ultra ECN Account

The Ultra ECN account is the premium tier, with the tightest pricing aimed at high-balance traders. It opens from $20,000 and caps leverage at 1:500.

Advantages

  • Tightest pricing for high-volume trading
  • Premium conditions
  • Pro Trader, MT4, MT5 and AppTrader

Disadvantages

  • High $20,000 entry
  • Lower leverage than the smaller accounts

Regulation & Safety

Moneta Markets has operated since 2018 and runs through two entities. Is Moneta Markets legitimate and regulated? Yes, with one nuance worth knowing: one entity is regulated by a financial authority, while the other is a company registration. The protection that applies to you depends on which one your account sits under, so check it before you fund.

FSCA (South Africa)

Moneta Markets is a trading name of Moneta Markets South Africa (Pty) Ltd, an authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP) registered and regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) of South Africa under licence number 47490, based in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

Saint Lucia (registration)

Moneta Markets is also a trading name of Moneta Markets Ltd, registered under the Saint Lucia Registry of International Business Companies with registration number 2023-00068. This is a company registration rather than a financial licence, so an account under this entity relies on the broker’s own standards rather than a market regulator.

Where a financial regulator is involved, it requires the provider to meet capital requirements and to follow internal procedures such as risk management, staff training, financial compliance, and regular auditing. Before you fund an account, check which of these entities you are contracting with in your client agreement, because that decides which rules and protections apply to you.

Spreads, Commissions & Fees

Moneta Markets charges in one of two ways. The Direct STP account is spread-based, with the cost built into the spread and no separate commission. The Prime ECN and Ultra ECN accounts use tighter raw spreads plus a commission per lot. To compare them, add the spread and the commission together for what you actually trade.

Exact spreads, and whether the commission is charged per side or per round turn, are confirmed against Moneta Markets’ live schedule before publishing.

ProsCons
Spread-only Direct STP is simple, with no commission to trackThe ECN accounts add a commission on top of the spread
Prime ECN gives tighter raw spreads for active tradersLive spreads are not published in an easy-to-find table
Low $50 entry on the main accountsThe Ultra tier needs a $20,000 balance

Deposits & Withdrawals

Moneta Markets supports common funding methods, typically bank cards, wire transfer, and online payment options. Methods, limits and processing times vary by region and the entity you register under, so check the options in your client portal.

Advantages

  • Low entry from $50 on the main accounts
  • Standard cards, wire and online options
  • Managed from one client portal

Disadvantages

  • Withdrawal fees and limits depend on the method
  • Processing times vary by region and entity

Leverage & Instruments

Leverage reaches up to 1:1000 on the Direct STP and Prime ECN accounts, and up to 1:500 on Ultra ECN. As with most brokers, the top figure applies mainly to major forex pairs; more volatile markets carry lower caps. Leverage of 1:1000 is high, and it amplifies losses as much as gains.

On the instrument side, Moneta Markets is multi-asset, covering the main markets traded as CFDs:

Asset classWhat you can trade
ForexMajor, minor and exotic currency pairs
Metals & commoditiesGold, silver, oil and more
IndicesMajor global stock indices
Share CFDsCFDs on global stocks
CryptocurrenciesPopular crypto pairs

Advantages

  • Multi-asset range across forex, metals, indices and more
  • High leverage available for traders who want it
  • Stocks are available as CFDs

Disadvantages

  • Leverage up to 1:1000 amplifies losses as much as gains
  • Leverage caps are lower on volatile markets
  • Stocks are CFDs, so you do not own the underlying share
