IronFX Account Types
IronFX offers three account types that step down in leverage as they move up in tier: Standard, RAW ECN, and ECN VIP. All run on MetaTrader 4.
| Account | Minimum deposit | Max leverage | Pricing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | From $100 | up to 1:2000 | Spread-based, no commission |
| RAW ECN | From $100 | up to 1:1000 | Raw spread + commission |
| ECN VIP | From $20,000 | up to 1:200 | Premium, tightest pricing |
Standard Account
The Standard account is the entry point, opening from $100 with spread-based pricing and no separate commission. It carries the highest leverage on offer, up to 1:2000, and runs on MetaTrader 4.
Advantages
- Low $100 entry
- Spread-based, no commission to track
- MetaTrader 4
Disadvantages
- 1:2000 leverage amplifies losses very quickly
- Spreads are wider than the RAW ECN account
RAW ECN Account
The RAW ECN account moves to raw spreads sourced from liquidity providers, with a commission per lot. It suits active traders who feel the cost on every trade, with leverage up to 1:1000.
Advantages
- Raw spreads, tighter than the Standard account
- Suited to active trading
- MetaTrader 4
Disadvantages
- A commission applies on top of the spread
- Lower leverage than the Standard account
ECN VIP Account
The ECN VIP account is the premium tier, with the tightest pricing aimed at high-balance traders. It opens from $20,000 and caps leverage at 1:200.
Advantages
- Tightest pricing for high-volume trading
- Premium conditions
- MetaTrader 4
Disadvantages
- High $20,000 entry
- Lowest leverage of the three accounts
Regulation & Safety
IronFX has operated since 2010 and is based in Limassol, Cyprus. Is IronFX legitimate and regulated? Yes. It is licensed by CySEC and the FCA, among others, and has run for well over a decade. The protection that applies to you, including any investor compensation scheme, depends on the entity you register under, so it is worth checking which one your account sits with.
CySEC (Cyprus)
IronFX Global Limited is authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under licence number 125/10. CySEC is a well-established European regulator, and this is the broker’s home licence.
FCA (United Kingdom)
IronFX also operates with the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK under FCA reference 585561. The FCA is one of the most respected regulators in the industry.
FSCA (South Africa)
IronFX is additionally registered with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority in South Africa, the entity that serves many clients in that region.
Before you fund an account, check which of these entities you are contracting with in your client agreement, because that decides which rules and protections apply to you.
Spreads, Commissions & Fees
IronFX charges in one of two ways. The Standard account is spread-based, with the cost built into the spread and no separate commission. The RAW ECN and ECN VIP accounts use tighter raw spreads plus a commission per lot. To compare them, add the spread and the commission together for what you actually trade.
Advantages
- Spread-only Standard is simple, with no commission to track
- RAW ECN gives tighter raw spreads for active traders
- Low $100 entry on Standard
Disadvantages
- RAW ECN and VIP add a commission on top of the spread
- Live spreads are not published in an easy-to-find table
- The VIP tier needs a $20,000 balance
Deposits & Withdrawals
IronFX supports common funding methods, typically bank cards, wire transfer, and online payment options, through its client portal. Methods, limits and processing times vary by region and the entity you register under, so check the options in your portal.
Advantages
- Low entry from $100 on Standard
- Standard cards, wire and online options
- Managed from one client portal
Disadvantages
- Withdrawal fees and limits depend on the method
- Processing times vary by region and entity
Leverage & Instruments
Leverage steps down by account: up to 1:2000 on Standard, 1:1000 on RAW ECN, and 1:200 on ECN VIP. As with most brokers, the top figure applies mainly to major forex pairs; more volatile markets carry lower caps. Leverage of 1:2000 is very high, and it amplifies losses as much as gains.
On the instrument side, IronFX is multi-asset, covering the main markets traded as CFDs:
| Asset class | What you can trade |
|---|---|
| Forex | Major, minor and exotic currency pairs |
| Metals & commodities | Gold, silver, oil and more |
| Indices | Major global stock indices |
| Share CFDs | CFDs on global stocks |
| Cryptocurrencies | Popular crypto pairs |
Advantages
- Multi-asset range across forex, metals, indices and more
- High leverage available on the entry account
- Stocks are available as CFDs
Disadvantages
- Leverage up to 1:2000 amplifies losses as much as gains
- Leverage caps are lower on volatile markets and higher tiers
- Stocks are CFDs, so you do not own the underlying share
